South Africa has no regulating body that oversees the down and feather industry, but Lifson Linen believes in creating products that meet the highest standards. That’s why we’ve adopted the practices and standards of the European Down & Feather Association (EDFA). This means that every Lifson Linen down and feather product undergoes a rigorous cleaning, sterilisation, de-dusting, grading and sorting process.

The down and feather filling found in our products is a by-product of the poultry industry or comes from Hungarian geese that moult as they age. We do not, and never will, source our raw materials from suppliers or farms that practise live plucking. We love animals, and would never support that.

TRACEABILITY
Every single container of down and feathers that we receive is assigned a lot number, which is recorded on the label of every down and feather duvet or pillow that contains these raw materials. This enables us to trace the source of the filling right back to the farm that it came from.

LABORATORY TESTED
All down and feather filling undergoes a quality test from an independent laboratory to confirm the exact down content, oxygen number, and turbidity of the filling. Most importantly, the tests confirm the filling power of every quality of filling, according to EDFA standards.

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
We use fabric that is compliant with OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and certified as free from harmful chemicals.

GUARANTEE
Our Royal Comfort range of duvets and pillows are guaranteed against faulty workmanship and material defects for two years.

HYGIENE PRACTICES
As the fabric and the content of our duvets and pillows are primarily white, we always practise the highest standards of hand and personal hygiene.

INSPECTION
Our products are made on-site in our Cape Town factory. All imported raw materials (down and feather) are accompanied by a veterinary permit from the country of import, confirming that the filling was inspected and fumigated before shipping. It is inspected again on arrival in Cape Town by the South African Department of Agriculture.
